Instructions for Doublets

This game was invented by C. L. Dodgson (1832-1898), who (using the pseudonym Lewis Carroll) also wrote Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

The aim of the game is to get from a given initial word to a given final word by changing only one letter per line. Note that every line must be a valid word. Sometimes there are several possibilities (see example).

Example: get from WELL to TAKE

First Possibility

  1. WELL
  2. TELL
  3. TALL
  4. TALE
  5. TAKE

Second Possibility

  1. WELL
  2. WALL
  3. TALL
  4. TALE
  5. TAKE

Know what to do? Well, then try our game and strengthen your vocabulary.
