This game was invented by C. L. Dodgson (1832-1898), who (using the pseudonym Lewis Carroll) also wrote Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
The aim of the game is to get from a given initial word to a given final word by changing only one letter per line. Note that every line must be a valid word. Sometimes there are several possibilities (see example).
Example: get from WELL to TAKE
First Possibility
- WELL
- TELL
- TALL
- TALE
- TAKE
Second Possibility
- WELL
- WALL
- TALL
- TALE
- TAKE
