Hi Richard!
I think I could never survive there in Quèbec, I'm cold even here in Italy!! I went for the first time this winter to the mountains on the snow with a friend, and I was freezing!!
I've never been in your country, and I've never been in Canada too. How is it living there?? Actually my aunt has been in Canada last summer, and She told us something about her journey.
I didn't travell very much until now, but I was thinking about attending an english course in the United States maybe next year. Or if not in the States, probably in England or in Ireland, which would be much easier for me to get there alone(that I never took an airplane before! I'm a little scared!!).
My mother tongue is Italian, I studied english at school, but I never have the chance to speak it. The only situation where I can speak english probably is only when a tourist stop me on the street to ask for information! Once I was in front of a shop and I couldn't find the door to get in, there was only the shop window in front of me, so I asked to a guy sitting near there, but he must have been German or from some other country, so we tried to speak in english. And I don't know why but in these situations I never find the words!!! I was staring at him saying something like "The door to...to...mmm.." (I couldn't think about a simple word as "to go"!!) and I tried to show him some other way like "I have to get in the shop!!". It was such a funny thing! Luckily I never met that guy again =)
So as you can see my biggest problem in english is just to practice speaking! But the only way probably is only spending some time in an english speaking country.
I never tried to write to penpals as you, but when I found this web site I thought It would be fun and helpful at the same time. So if you want, leave me your e-mail next time you write. Hope to hear you soon! Bye =) Sara
