Christmas in Ireland
The Christmas traditions in Ireland are not much different from the ones in Great Britain. On Christmas Eve, many Irish families put a candle in the window. It’s a symbol of welcome for Mary and Joseph, who were looking for shelter that night.
All decorations are traditionally taken down on 6 January – it is considered to be bad luck to take them down beforehand.
