Background

Not much is known about Aesop's life - he probably lived in Phrygia (now part of Turkey) in the 6th century before Christ. Aesop's fables, however, are well known and amongst the most popular ones worldwide. Still, it is believed that many of Aesop's fables were not written by himself, but by the Greek poet Babrios.
